While COVID-19 cases in Mongolia remain limited, all international flights in and out of Mongolia have been suspended until at least May 1, and global travel restrictions continue to evolve. Due to increasing concerns over travel restrictions and other uncertainties pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the following changes to the ACMS Mongolia Field School courses:
“Visual Storytelling in Mongolia” has been cancelled for 2020;
“Word and Sound in Mongolian Culture” has been cancelled for 2020;
“Climate Change and Herding in Three Mongolian Eco-zones” has been moved to Session 2 (July 27-August 14, 2020);
“Climate Change and Public Health: Heat, Fire, Flood and Drought” has been postponed to 2021;
“Mongolian Buddhism, Nature, and Conservation” still accepting applications;
“Environment, Humans, and Mining in Northern Mongolia” still accepting applications;
We will make the final determination regarding the status of the remaining session 2 courses by June 1, 2020 based on the best information available at that time on projected travel and health restrictions for summer 2020.
The cancelled courses for 2020 are expected to be offered in 2021 with a final listing of courses and dates available in fall 2020.
