The Northern Mongolia Archaeology Project (NMAP) is based in the Darkhad Depression of Northern Mongolia. This international, interdisciplinary team is composed of faculty, staff, professionals, students and volunteers who seek to understand how Mongolia’s ancient people adapted to incorporate herding into their hunting-gathering traditions. Furthermore, the team seeks to bring these themes forward to speak to modern-day issues like climate change, economic shifts, culture heritage preservation and loss, ecological transitions, and more.
