The ACMS by-laws define the membership year as beginning September 1 and ending on August 31 of each year regardless of when an individual or institution has joined during the academic year. However, in practice the ACMS extends membership renewal periods until January 1 of each year to allow for late payments and shortened memberships as a consequence of joining during the middle of the academic year. Members should receive renewal notifications in August/September and again in December/January of each year if their memberships are due to expire. If members have not renewed their memberships by December/January their names are removed from the membership list for that academic year.
