My research combines a focus on Inner Asia, mainly Mongolia, with a general interest in anthropological theory. In Mongolia, I have studied as diverse subjects as sociality, religion, economy and politics, but my research has always, in one way or the other, been related to processes of (radical) postsocialist transition. While I am interested in most anthropological theory, I have previously been concerned mainly with economic anthropology, exchange, postsocialism, radical change, magic/witchcraft, gossip, paranoia and political culture. Also, I have previously carried out research on issues related to the Uyghurs and Western China.
