The American Center for Mongolian Studies (ACMS) is a non-profit educational organization that supports the development of Mongolian Studies and academic exchanges with Inner Asia. The activities of the ACMS include the development of academic resources, student and research support and the fostering of academic partnerships in all fields of study related to Mongolia.
Inner Asia is strategically located between two of the world’s superpowers, and marks the eastern edge of Central Asia. This region has close historical and cultural ties to China, the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia and Tibet. In spite of its historical and geopolitical importance, the field of Mongolian and Inner Asian Studies is not well represented in US and international academic institutions, and research funding for graduate and post-graduate students and scholars is limited.
