Opportunities for Study in Mongolia:
- The
School for International Training (SIT) offers a one-semester study abroad program for
international undergraduate students in Mongolia. The Mongolia:
Culture and Development program focuses on strategies for development
and efforts to protect indigenous cultural values. The program includes
homestays in a nomadic camp. Scholarships
are available.
- The National Security Education Program (NSEP) offers fellowships and scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students who are US citizens to organize programs for short and long-term language training and study in Mongolia.
- The Freeman-Asia Program run by the Institute for International Education offers scholarships for US undergraduates planning to study abroad in Asia for a summer, semester or academic year. The program covers expenses up to $3000 for an 8-week summer program, $5,000 for a semester and $7,000 for an academic year.
- The National University of Mongolia (NUM) coordinates the International Summer School of Mongolian Language and Culture that offers five 2-week sessions of intensive Mongolian language training. Foreign students can also direct enroll in the NUM for a semester or academic year.
- The Fulbright U.S. Student Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, offers opportunities for recent graduates, postgraduate candidates, and developing professionals and artists to conduct career-launching study and research in Mongolia.
Opportunities to work/volunteer in Mongolia:
- The Alliance for International Women's Rights (AIWR) is devoted to supporting international women's rights efforts by tapping into the adventurous and generous spirit of American professionals and students who love to travel and who are also interested in furthering women's rights. The Alliance works with Asian women's rights organizations to provide volunteer positions to Americans who wish to get to know a new corner of the world, while also helping support women's rights efforts by volunteering their unique skills and talents to advance women's rights in Asia. The Alliance recruits volunteers to spend two to three weeks providing training, consulting and assistance to five of Mongolia's most dynamic and effective women's rights organizations.
