Gurvan Saihan

Gurvan Saihan is an area located in the Dundgovi Aimag, with two significant uranium deposits, Haraat and Hairhan. Exploration into the Choir Depression where these mines are located began in 1955. Drilling began in 1994. The Haraat deposit is estimated to have around 2,500 tons of uranium resources, and the Hairhan is slightly larger with over 4000 tons of estimated resources. [1]

70% of the Gurvan Saihan area is owned by the Canadian firm Denison Mines, while the remaining 30% is split between the Russian firm Geologorazvedka and the Mongolian Ministry of Energy. [2]
