Fiber-optic connections
From Mongol Studies Online Reference
There are 7,400 kilometers of fiber optic lines in Mongolia. The primary conduit runs north to south, connecting with both Russia and China. The network was first deployed in 2000 and is jointly owned by the Government of Mongolia and the Railroad Authority of Mongolia. The fiber optic network constitutes 43.3% of the total telecommunications infrastructure. Most internet service providers connect to the Internet through Railcom, a company administered by the Railroad Authority of Mongolia. Railcom in turn connects to both China Telecom and Trans-Telecom Russia via the primary north-south corridor.[1]
