The ACMS - Enkhbaatar Demchig Field Research Fellowship Program was established to foster a new generation of Mongolian scholars adept in modern research methods and technologies, by creating an opportunity for field study early on in the careers of Mongolian students. The goal of the program is to introduce students to new approaches to research and to encourage them to continue conducting in-country research as they continue their academic work. Participants in the program range from advanced undergraduates to post-doctoral students. As they advance, their research work in Mongolia can be developed and funded through other sources of funding for doctoral and post-doctoral research.
The ACMS – Enkhbaatar Demchig Field Research Fellowship is a continuation of the ACMS’ popular summer field fellowship program for Mongolian students. This program provided summer field research opportunities for Mongolian students annually for five years (2004-2008). D. Enkhbaatar, former Deputy Director of the ACMS, was our first and longest-serving staff member. Enkh felt so strongly about reinstating the program that he agreed to make the first contribution toward a fund for this purpose, which now bears his name. |
